Integrase가 인식하는 표적 (landing sites)은 integrase 종류마다 특이적으로정해져있다. 예를 들어, large serine phage integrase는 30-50nt 길이의 염기서열로 이루어져 있다.

Integrase가 인식하는 landing site를 우리가 원하는 위치에 삽입해준다면, integrase를 이용해 large insertion (수 천 bp 이상, 거의 유전자 단위)
